Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need An Attorney?
In almost every personal injury case, you will be dealing with an insurance company. That insurance company has trained it’s adjusters to figure out ways to deny or minimize your claim. Their job is to pay you as little as possible, or even nothing. You need a personal injury attorney that knows their tricks, and who knows the most effective way to assist you in putting your case together. The attorneys affiliated with the Injury Law Center will put their knowledge and experience to work for you, and will help you assemble, organize, and present your claim. If the insurance company still refuses to pay you what you deserve, they will then file a lawsuit and put their courtroom experience to work in presenting your case to a jury in the most effective manner.
What Will You Do For Me And What Is The Process?
Once you hire us to represent you, we will immediately undertake a thorough investigation of the circumstances surrounding your injury. This may include taking pictures, locating witnesses and obtaining statements from them, and finding out more information about the person who caused your injury. Often, we employ professional investigators to aid us in this process.
We’ll promptly contact the insurance companies involved to inform them that you now have a legal team behind you, and that they are to leave you alone and deal directly with us from this point on. We will correspond with them for you, and will provide them with the information they need to assess your claim once we have gathered and prepared all of the information and evidence that we can.
Once you have completed your medical care, we’ll gather all of your medical records and put together a summary of your medical treatment and future prognosis. We’ll then gather detailed information about all of the harm (e.g. medical bills incurred, lost wages, pain and suffering, etc.) that you have suffered as a result of the injury.
All of this information will be organized into a “demand” package for the insurance adjuster. This will tell them what happened, how it affected you, and how much they should pay you because of it. Our goal at the Injury Law Center is to restore you to where you were just before the injury happened by making up for all of the harm caused to you.
If the insurance company does not offer you the compensation you feel you deserve, you will need an attorney to then prepare and file a lawsuit on your behalf. You will work with the Injury Law Center throughout the legal process to put your case together, with an eye toward asking a jury to make the insurance company pay you what you deserve.
What Will I Be Charged In Attorney’s Fees?
You will not be charged anything for initial consultations, and you don’t pay us anything up front. You won’t be charged for the time we spend on the case or per phone call, so you can contact us anytime you want and as much as you want to discuss your case.
We work on a contingency basis, meaning we only get paid if you do. At our initial meeting we will establish an attorney-client contract that sets forth a fair and mutually agreed upon percentage of the recovery we obtain for you. Our percentage of recovery at the end of the case varies depending on the nature and circumstances of each case. You need an attorney whose interests are 100% in line with yours, and the contingency contract means that the only way we can make money is by recovering money for you. This is a powerful incentive to do everything we can for you and your case.
Contact us right away and we’ll discuss any of this information with you in more detail.
